NGCP requested the implementation of Manual Load Dropping (MLD) due to a power generation deficiency (Yellow Alert Status) affecting the Visayas Grid.

We appeal for your understanding regarding this NGCP-initiated unscheduled power interruption. Rest assured that power will be restored as soon as NGCP lifts the Manual Load Dropping and grants clearance to normalize the affected feeder.

NGCP may implement Manual Load Dropping (MLD) to maintain the stability of the Visayas Grid, some areas within our franchise may experience temporary power interruptions.

2 plants are on forced outage on August 2026, 3 plants since July, 3 plants since June, 7 plants since May, 1 plant since March, 3 plants since 2025, 2 plants since 2024, 2 plants since 2023, and 1 plant since 2021, while 16 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 1,062.3MW unavailable to the grid.
Factor/s that contributed to the YELLOW Alert declaration:
1. Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, TVI 2, KSPC 1 & CEDC 1
2. Emergency shutdown of TPC Coal (02-Aug)
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission gridโs contingency requirement.
