The alert declarations are attributed to the unavailability of several generating plants, limited power import from Mindanao, and high forecasted system demand.
A total of six (6) plants are on forced outage, while 13 plants are operating at derated capacities, resulting in a total of 903.2 MW unavailable to the grid.

Factor/s that contributed to the RED and YELLOW Alert declarations in the Visayas grid:
1. Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, TVI 2, CEDC 1
2. Limited power import from Mindanao (due to maintenance outage of GNPK 2, emergency shutdown of GNPK 1 due to boiler tube leak)
3. High forecasted system demand
A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission gridโs regulating requirement.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission gridโs contingency requirement.

August 12, 2026 โ ILECO I successfully conducted the Barangay Power Association (BAPA) General Assembly at the Brgy. Talacu-an Covered Gymnasium in the Municipality of Leon, Iloilo, bringing together 200 BAPA officers from across the municipality.
The General Assembly served as an avenue to update our BAPA officers on the Cooperativeโs latest policies, programs, and strategic initiatives. It also provided an opportunity for open and meaningful dialogue, where concerns were raised and addressed, ideas were shared, and valuable recommendations were gathered to further improve the efficiency and quality of our services.
The activity further strengthened our partnership with our BAPA officers, recognizing their vital role in promoting safe, reliable, and responsive electric service to our Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs).
Through continued collaboration, ILECO I remains committed to strengthening transparency, accountability, and community engagement. We continue to work hand in hand with our stakeholders to deliver better service and respond to the needs of the communities we serve.
