A total of 23 power plants remain unavailable to the Visayas Grid due to forced outages:
• 6 plants since June 2026
• 8 plants since May 2026
• 1 plant since March 2026
• 3 plants since 2025
• 2 plants since 2024
• 2 plants since 2023
• 1 plant since 2021

Meanwhile, 11 power plants are operating on derated capacities, resulting in a total of 881 MW unavailable to the grid.

𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁:
• Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, TVI 2, and PEDC 3
• High demand forecast

A Yellow Alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid's contingency requirements.

We encourage all our Member-Consumer-Owners to practice energy conservation, especially during the Yellow Alert period, to help maintain the stability and reliability of the power grid.

As ILECO I celebrates its 55th Foundation Anniversary, we reflect on a legacy of service, progress, and transformation that has illuminated countless lives across Iloilo Province since 1971. These historical photos highlight one of the most meaningful milestones in our journey—the switch-on ceremonies in far-flung barangays, where electricity first reached communities long waiting for light. Today, all 794 barangays within our franchise area are fully energized, marking the start of new opportunities in education, livelihood, and regional growth.

Our commitment to progress does not stop at the barangay level. True to our mission of Total Rural Electrification, ILECO I—in partnership with the National Electrification Administration (NEA)—remains dedicated to bringing light to the most remote areas through the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP). Since 2011, this priority initiative has successfully energized 779 sitios, directly benefiting and transforming the lives of 13,001 families and households across our coverage areas.

The dedication of ILECO I continues long after government-funded projects conclude. Utilizing the cooperative’s own funds, we proactively maintain and upgrade local grid infrastructure by replacing aging lines and upgrading transformers. Through our Cooperative Missionary Electrification Program, we proudly ensure sustainable power, continuously uplifting the quality of life for our Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs)—especially our underserved brothers and sisters living in distant and highland communities.

For 55 years, ILECO I has stood as a resilient catalyst for change—powering homes, empowering communities, and lighting the path toward a brighter future for all Ilonggos.

As we celebrate our 55th Foundation Anniversary, we proudly look back on one of the milestones that shaped our journey toward becoming a stronger and more resilient electric cooperative.

In 1980, the operationalization of the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) transmission line marked a turning point in our history. This significant development enabled us to terminate our power supply contract with PECO and operate our first-ever 5 MVA Substation at our Tigbauan Main Office. What was once a bold investment in our future became the foundation of a power system that continues to serve and empower communities today.

From that single 5 MVA substation, we have grown into a modern electric distribution utility operating ten strategically located substations across our franchise area. These facilities now provide the capacity and reliability needed to support the increasing demands of homes, businesses, institutions, industries, and communities throughout the municipalities we proudly serve.

Today, our substations are equipped with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) technology, enabling us to monitor and control critical power system operations in real time. Through this innovation, we can detect faults faster, respond to outages more efficiently, improve system reliability, reduce downtime, and deliver safer and more dependable electric service to our Member-Consumer-Owners.

What began as a single substation serving a growing dream has evolved into a robust, technology-driven network powering progress across Western Iloilo. Every substation we built, every system we upgraded, and every innovation we embraced reflects our unwavering commitment to providing reliable, responsive, and future-ready electric service.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we honor the visionary leaders, dedicated employees, valued partners, and Member-Consumer-Owners whose trust and support have made our growth possible.
