17 plants are on forced outage on September, 3 plants since August 2026, 2 plants since June, 6 plants since May, 3 plants since 2025, 2 plants since 2024, 2 plants since 2023, and 1 plant since 2021, while 18 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 957.3MW unavailable to the grid.
Factor/s that contributed to the RED and YELLOW Alert declarations:
1. Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, PEDC 3 and KSPC 2
๏ฟฝ2. Outage of PGPP2 units (56.6MW)
3. Increase in Visayas demand forecast during evening peak by around 130MW
4. Limited power import from Mindanao grid
A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission gridโs regulating requirement.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission gridโs contingency requirement.
